Making music that soothes the soul and rocks the body, this dynamic duo was destined to be.
Meeting at the Jazz Music Institute, Kim and BVJ connected over their love of jazz, blues and everything in between! Showcasing mellifluous jazz, sultry blues and a little la vida Latina, Kim and BVJ are effervescent entertainers with an insatiable appetite for the art of music. Since their first performance in 2017, this double-act have entranced audiences across the country.
Their jazzy jaunts aren’t limited to events. Kim and BVJ also teach music to children and perform as a part of Krunj – a band that’s not afraid to push the musical limit, with neo-soul, psychedelia and acid-jazz influences.
At the end of the day, for Kim and BVJ it’s all about the music. Good days and bad, music is always at their core – bringing them peace and pushing them further into their passion.
Kim’s love for performing started long ago, as she grew up learning to dance. She’s awestruck by jazz cats like Ella Fitzgerald, wowed by storytellers like Nancy Wilson, and inspired by the soulful sounds of Erykah Badu, Aretha Franklin and Alicia Keys – though you may find her shaking it like Shakira on stage!
Originally from Hervey Bay, Kim’s a summer babe who can’t get enough of the great outdoors. Roller-skating, camping, swimming, diving… you name it, she’s loved it.
This mononymous music-maker discovered music as a child, when his mother fostered his passion for piano. As he grew, so did his skill – to the point where, as a grown up, a gaggle of gals got so excited by his music that they crashed onto his piano (the beer-glass-smashed mess left the whole bar speechless).
Like Kim, BVJ is a beach kid at heart, regularly found basking in the glow of the sunshine coast.
